There are a few easy ways to identify the specific model of your Dell XPS:

Look for a Service Tag: Flip your XPS over and check the bottom casing for a sticker with a barcode and a string of alphanumeric characters. This is the Service Tag, which uniquely identifies your Dell device. You can enter this tag on the Dell Support website to find all the details about your specific model.

Check System Information (Windows): - In the Windows search bar, type "system information".
Open the "System Information" app.
Locate the "System Model" section. This will display the exact model number of your XPS.

Access BIOS: - Restart your XPS.
As soon as the Dell logo appears, press the F2 key repeatedly (or Del or Fn+Esc depending on your model). This will enter the BIOS settings.
Navigate the BIOS interface (using arrow keys and Enter) to find the "System Information" section. The model number of your XPS should be listed there.

Resetting Within Windows

1. Open the Windows Settings: Click the Start menu and select the gear icon.
2. Navigate to System: On the left-hand side menu, find and click on "System".
3. Select Recovery: In the Settings window within System, choose "Recovery".
4. Choose Reset this PC: Select Reset this PC
5. Pick your reset option: Windows offers two choices:
   • Keep my files: This option reinstalls Windows but keeps your personal files (documents, pictures, music). However, it removes apps and settings.
   • Remove everything: This option performs a more thorough reset, wiping all your personal data, apps, and settings, returning the XPS to its factory state.
6. Confirm and proceed: Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your chosen reset option and begin the process. Your XPS will restart and the reset can take some time to complete.
